La Vanguardia and RACC launch a new traffic service with instant information of more than 70.000 km of tracks in Spain from 1.200 cameras.
La Vanguardia website has launched a new online traffic information service in Spain, made by the Reial Automòbil Club de Catalunya (RACC). It contains real-time information from eight official sources on more than 70.000 km of roads throughout Spain and 718 control points, as well as the connection with 1.200 cameras which depend on the General Direction of Traffic, Servei Català de Trànsit and the municipalities that have this type of infrastructure.
A map of Google Maps shows sections with incidents and congestion in four colors: black for closed sections, red for 0 to 35 km/h, yellow for speeds of 36 to 70 km/h and green for roads with fluid circulation. Users can choose what type of incidents they want to see, such as stretches of roadworks and roads with cones, or influences because of weather conditions and mountain passes. It has accurate information of kilometer posts, the nearest city and a description of the cause of the incidence.
Users can also access extra functions of the mobile application offered by RACC, such as choosing predefined sections, learning about alternative routes and receiving alerts of traffic incidents. In addition, it is possible to generate forecasts for the upcoming twelve hours and shows live traffic on all the roads of Europe. Furthermore, it has information of more than 8.000 gas stations with its offers, location, price and schedules. It also incorporates an application that reports nearby speed cameras. Finally, the mobile service allows to share the detected incidents with other users and to see the ones that other users have incorporated, and it offers a direct call to the RACC alarm center to request mechanical or medical assistance 24 hours a day.
Nexus Geographics has developed the Infotransit service for RACC and the adaptation of the application for La Vanguardia, both customers of the company.
