The Granollers conurbation has an app with all the information of its bus services

This week, the bus service of the Granollers conurbation, TransGran, has made an app for smartphones and tablets available for its users, with all the relevant information of its service.

With the app, users can check the actual passage time of the buses and view schedules of each stop. Furthermore, it allows to plan routes, set preferred bus stops and find out about current transport tickets and their characteristics. The application also shows the stops closest to the user on the map, and has a route planner that indicates the best bus route between two points in Granollers.

The new application of TransGran is a new way of communicating and informing about the bus service in the conurbation of Granollers. It's available for download on Google Play and App Store.

TransGran is the urban transport service of the municipalities of the conurbation of Granollers; La Roca del Vallès, Les Franqueses del Vallès, Canovelles and Granollers. It is operated by Sagalés, and has 8 urban transport lines serving a population of more than 105.000 inhabitants.

The congress “use of GIS in port environments” on the 17^th and 18^th of January is organized by the Port Authority of Huelva. It is a meeting point for decision-makers in port management and specialists in GIS, who will present and explain the possibilities which GIS tools can offer for multiple aspects of port management. For example: management of the public domain, maritime traffic, security and the environment, inventory of port infrastructures, emergencies and port operations.

On the 18^th of January Lluís Tartera, Business Manager at Nexus Geographics, will present the GIS Web platform used by the Port of Barcelona. The location on which the Congress will be celebrated is an antique garage for locomotives, a building from industrial architecture and a valuable heritage which is renovated by the Port Authority and converted into a multifunctional cultural center.

Bus Manresa presents their new APP, a new information channel and an easier and more comfortable way to obtain the most relevant information about the city busses for its users, in real time. The application shows the user the nearest bus stops to his location on the map. In an easy and fast way, it allows the user knowing in real time at what time the bus will arrive at each bus stop, the next programmed departures and saving favorite stops.

Moreover, the application notifies incidents and allows to rapidly accessing all information from bus stops saved as favorites. Likewise, the service “I want to go”, indicates the best bus route between two points in Manresa and also shows the location and information about transport ticket sales points, like a list of valid tickets.

Busmanresa, Manresa´s city bus service, has 8 bus lines which serve a population of 76.000 citizens. The application is presented during the Mobility week, 2016 by the town councilor for Mobility in the municipality of Manresa, Olga Sánchez, the marketing manager of Segalés (the operating company of Manresa), Nerea Duran, and the technical expert on mobility in the Municipality of Manresa, Queralt Torres. The app, in which Nexus Geographics has collaborated, will be available for free the upcoming days for Android and iOS.

The App of Abertis “Autopistas en Ruta”, developed with the collaboration of Nexus Geographics, has won the ITS award granted by the Forum of New Technologies in Transport.

Each year, ITS Awards recognizes the best projects related to new technologies and intelligent transport systems. The APP “Autopistas en Ruta” was awarded in the category of Motorways, with the award for the best technology solution to facilitate safe and comfortable mobility. This year´s edition (the 6^th) was held as a closing ceremony of the XVI Spanish Congress about Intelligent Transport Systems, from May 20^th.

This APP is designed to make driving more comfortable, faster and secure. It applies the latest innovations in geolocation technology to automatically detect when the vehicle enters a highway or if you have an emergency situation. If the App detects a sudden stop, an automatic emergency call is activated. In case the driver doesn´t answer, it locates the vehicle and connects in real-time with operation centers of Abertis, operating 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. In case of emergency, highway assistance protocols are directly carried out, accelerating the performance of emergency services. This system is similar to eCall proposed by the European Union, which will be mandatory in vehicles by the year 2018.

The application is an authentic custom co-pilot: it reports of the real time traffic, both of Abertis and of official information sources (DGT, Autonomous government of Catalonia of Catalonia -Generalitat-, Basque Government), and private sources (TomTom). In addition, it allows to create personalized alerts of traffic (concrete days and hours), to calculate routes or to inform about radars, limits of speed, service areas, nearest gas stations, prices of fuels, etc. The application is free and this available for Android and iOS.

Abertis Autopistas is the first world operator of highways by number of kilometres managed. It operates in 12 Europe's countries and America, and account with an insole of 17.000 workers.

Nexus Geographics is the winner of the "Future company" prize during the 7th call of the “Fem Indústria” contest. The ceremony was held on the 31^th of May in the Pompeu Fabra Auditorium of the College of Industrial Engineers´ headquarters in Barcelona, Catalonia.

The prize is announced by the official College of Industrial Engineers of Catalonia, Enginova, la Salle Technova Barcelona, Leitat Technological Center and Fundación TecnoCampus. In the 7 editions that have been celebrated, more than 170 business projects have participated and the winners include companies such as Byhours.com and Forcemanager.com.

The route planner Mou-te around Catalonia in public transport has developed a new, improved versión for web and Smartphone to become more intuitive, geographic and personal. One of the main novelties is the visual presentation of results, the way the traveler can quickly compare alternative routes and choose the one that interests him the most.

The results will now be visualized in a more simple way. First, a map will appear in which different transport possibilities will be shown with a graph, in order of arrival times. Every transport option will show a detailed description of the route, the timetables, travel duration and the associated environmental savings. Also, when a bus is demanded, a symbol with an exclamation mark will indicate that it is necessary to specify information in advance and shows details.

Other important improvements are the possibility for the user to save frequent used routes with the option “save to favorites”, share them in social networks (Facebook, Twitter and Google+) and the search autocomplete service.

Mou-te is a route planner for public transport around Catalonia, with 100% regional information: 1.229 lines, 15.000 stops and 179 operators. Nexus Geographics collaborated in the development and management for the Territorial Council, of the Government of Catalonia.

Nexus Geographics will take part in the XV Spanish Congress on Intelligent Transportation Systems, to be held from the 14th to the 16^th of April at the Colegio de Ingenieros de Caminos, Canales y Puentes in Madrid.

In order to become a meeting point between experts of the ITS sector, Intelligent Transport Systems, the congress has the participation of over 100 entities, including municipalities, universities and leading companies in the technology field. During the conference, there will be held several presentations on topics related to innovation, management and improvement of ITS such as mobility management, smart cities, the implementation of ITS in toll roads, road safety or information systems in public transport.

It is in this latter area, information systems on public transport, where Nexus Geografics participates actively offering a conference about the systems Mou-te and MyWay in conjunction with the Generalitat de Catalunya: Cristina Pou Fonolla, a member of the General Direction of Transport and Mobility, and Francesc Varela, co-owner and manager of the company Nexus Geografics, will explain how these two leading systems in the information systems of public transport work; the route finder that integrates all urban transport systems, Mou-te, implemented in Catalonia in 2010, and the MyWay system, an European project of R+D started in 2013 in Catalonia (Spain), Berlin (Germany) and Trikala (Greece) that combines different transport models.
